Our History

Over two decades of consistent improvement

Since our founding in 2002, we have consistently invested 25% of our revenue into research and development, constantly upgrading our products and their capabilities to serve banks even better.

Zafin was founded, built on the idea that the financial services industry could be revolutionized to offer better products and pricing, personalize experiences, and drive sustained value.

We launched our product and pricing capabilities platform, custom tailored for financial services.

Just five months after our first product launch, Zafin goes live with its first customer, HDFC Bank, and wins a Retail Banking Project Award for our work.

Between 2007 and 2010, Zafin entered the European market, expanding operations, gaining clients, and demonstrating the value our platform offers to banks hampered by legacy core technology.

After finding success in Europe, Zafin earned its first North American client, CIBC, and worked with them to transform their capabilities. Built on several years of working with Zafin, CIBC would eventually go on to win Celent’s prestigious Model Bank award.

During this stretch, Zafin expanded rapidly throughout the North American market, adding to its growing customer list, and establishing itself as a trusted partner for banks around the world.

This was the year we took the game-changing leap of transitioning to the cloud, kicking off our software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. With a cloud-based approach, Zafin was able to help its clients scale faster, increase flexibility and enhance their customer experience. We also joined forces with Microsoft, beginning a powerful partnership that complemented and enhanced Zafin’s capabilities.

We launched our fully operational, secure SaaS solution on Microsoft Azure, setting up new customers with seamless functionality. Zafin also worked with existing customers, helping them transition to the SaaS model so they could take advantage of the scale and flexibility it offered.

By now, Zafin had ramped up multiple customers on the SaaS model, demonstrating incredible return on investment (ROI), and proving the value-add of our solution.

Zafin rapidly expanded its SaaS offering to the European and Australian market, bringing on several major banks as customers.

We took a major leap forward with our platform, adding advanced analytics capabilities to our suite of products, helping our customers achieve deep, meaningful insights, make informed decisions, and boost their efficiency and profitability. This was recognized when Microsoft Canada recognized Zafin as winner of the 2021 application modernization impact award.

In our 20th year, Zafin began to leverage its decades of knowledge and channel it into thought leadership, sharing our insights with our growing client base in North America, Europe and APAC to help them predict trends, sustain growth, and realize substantial ROI.

With a growing track record of successfully modernizing banks and helping them reap the rewards of our SaaS platform, Zafin was recognized with the prestigious Best-in-Class Partner award by the BIAN group, the 2023 Microsoft Financial Services Global Partner of the Year award, and the 2023 Microsoft Canada ISV Impact award.

On February 12, 2024, Nordic Capital acquired the majority share of Zafin, aiming to accelerate the company’s leadership in core banking modernization and transformation. With Charbel Safadi as the new CEO , we are entering an era of continued excellence and sustainable growth for our customers.

Just six months into the year, Zafin was recognized with the Microsoft ISV Innovation - Americas Partner of the Year Award.
