One of Asia-Pacific largest banks embarked on an enterprise-wide modernization initiative to deliver personalized banking at scale and accelerate innovation. Partnering with Zafin, the bank enabled product and pricing to be managed outside of core systems, reducing IT dependency and improving consistency across the enterprise.

This allowed product teams to launch and update offerings more quickly while maintaining consistent pricing and eligibility rules across channels.

The result: faster product launches, improved customer experiences, and millions in annual cost savings.

A top-tier bank with approximately USD $725 billion in assets launched a major core modernization program to strengthen agility, reduce operational cost, and improve customer personalization. The initiative was designed to build a digital foundation capable of supporting rapid innovation across deposits, lending, and other key product lines.

Results at a Glance

  • Cost Savings: > $9 M annual reduction in legacy support
  • Automation: 100% automated product and pricing governance, removing the need for product management of 5 legacy applications
  • Time-to-Market: 18 months reduced to weeks for new product launches and updates
  • Experience: Improved NPS through personalized offers

The bank’s existing product and pricing processes were fragmented across multiple legacy systems.

Product definitions, pricing rules, and eligibility criteria were maintained across multiple systems and lines of business, requiring coordination between product, IT, and compliance teams for every change.

Approval processes were manual and multi-layered, often involving manual and multi-team management and taking 18+ months to get to market, creating delays and limiting responsiveness to market changes.

Product and pricing data existed in multiple formats across systems, increasing the risk of inconsistencies across channels and customer touchpoints.

These constraints made it difficult to deliver new products quickly or personalize offers in real time.

The bank implemented Zafin SaaS and integrated it with existing core systems and digital channels to manage product and pricing centrally.

APIs and event-driven architecture enabled real-time synchronization of product, pricing, and eligibility data across systems.

This allowed product and pricing changes to be managed outside of core systems while maintaining governance controls.

Key capabilities delivered:

  • Reduced dependency on core system changes by managing product and pricing through a centralized Product Catalog and Rates Engine
  • Improved governance and compliance consistency by enforcing eligibility rules and approval workflows during product configuration
  • Accelerated product launches by enabling product managers and pricing teams to define and update offerings directly without IT involvement
  • Supported enterprise-wide modernization through a phased rollout across deposits and lending products while maintaining business continuity

Through Zafin’s modernization platform, the bank achieved:

  • Product launch times reduced from 18 months to weeks
  • Over $9 million in annual cost savings through retirement of legacy systems
  • Automated governance delivering full auditability and compliance confidence
  • Enhanced customer experience and improved NPS through personalized product offers
  • Consistent product and pricing execution across all channels, reducing discrepancies and improving customer trust
  • Net Interest Margin (NIM) increased by 7.5 basis points from the first use case, driven by more responsive and precise pricing decisions

What changed inside the bank:

Before Zafin
  • Product and pricing updates required coordination across 5 legacy applications and multiple teams
  • Heavy reliance on IT for configuration and deployment
  • Pricing and eligibility decisions were not consistently visible across channels
  • Manual approval processes slowed execution and increased operational risk
After Zafin
  • Product managers configure and launch offerings directly
  • Pricing and eligibility rules applied consistently across all channels in real time
  • Automated workflows enforce governance and reduce dependency on manual approvals
  • Teams have real-time visibility into product configuration and pricing decisions
